Light becomes part of the design
Full-height glazing gives the work area a generous source of daylight. The task lamp adds a separate light source when the room needs it.

ROOM 31 · Workspace
Contemporary apartment · A quiet room beside full-height glazing
A window can improve the working day and make a screen harder to see. This desk sits beside the glazing, with storage taking the loose papers out of the view.

The garden is good company for a desk. It also needs managing: a bright window directly behind a screen can make the working view uncomfortable. Here the desk's position beside the glass leaves the outlook available without making it the backdrop to every task.
The height-adjustable desk is shown at sitting height. Its timber-effect top gives the white chair and storage a darker neighbour; drawers and open compartments divide the things used all day from those that can be put away. A task lamp belongs at the working end of the surface. The art has the rest of the wall.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
Full-height glazing gives the work area a generous source of daylight. The task lamp adds a separate light source when the room needs it.
One substantial artwork and one articulated brass lamp give the room its decorative focus. The remaining surface is available for everyday work.
The desk holds the active work, while a separate cabinet gathers books and paperwork. Storage has a clear role without crowding the chair.
A warm timber-effect top, fabric upholstery and raised cotton artwork soften the black metal, glass and stone.
Chalk, stone and taupe keep the background consistent. Clear floor space and a modest number of visible objects make the room easy to settle into.
WHAT TO BORROW
Place your screen before arranging the rest of the desk. Check the view at the hours you actually work, then leave room to adjust it.

A sit-stand desk with warm wood-effect character
Rustic-brown wood-effect board brings warmth to the clean black steel frame of this electric desk. The selected LSD312KD01 has a 120 x 60 cm top, height adjustment from 72 to 120 cm, four memory settings, two cable holes and side hooks. Keep a little space around it for changing position, then add a task lamp, a comfortable chair and a rug to make the work area feel part of the room.

A curved fabric chair with a light, open back
The small opening above the seat keeps this upholstered chair from looking too heavy, while the white base and curved arms continue its rounded shape. The selected White version has a textured fabric seat and back, swivel movement, height adjustment and castors. Light timber, a green wall and a small terracotta accent make a natural setting for it at a home desk or dressing table.

A generous home for printers and paperwork
Give the working corner a little more order with this white filing cabinet. Two central drawers keep paperwork together, while four open cubbies leave frequently used folders within reach. The engineered-wood unit measures 106.4cm wide, 37.8cm deep and 69.7cm high, with castors and a built-in power strip. Pair it with an oak desk and a strong wall colour so the white finish feels deliberate.
