Laundry remains on the left, seating and closed storage on the right. The arrangement gives each task a clear surface and route.

ROOM 71 · Other
A sea-glass utility room with laundry on one side and dry storage on the other.
Clean things need somewhere away from the washing. Across from the sink, a bench and tall cupboard give this sea-glass utility a dry side, with the busiest route left on tile.

A coastal utility room has more useful references than stripes. Pale changing light, weathered-looking colour and materials that make the wet route obvious can establish the setting without a collection of maritime props. Here, sea-glass paint runs around the room, with a darker tiled floor carrying the traffic from the back door.
The laundry surface and sink occupy one side. Across from them, the Davenport bench and Maine cupboard form a dry storage area for the things that should not sit beside washing. Their white fronts are a deliberate relief against green, while the bench's timber lid introduces warmth at a useful sitting height.
Foam Of Ocean brings the clearest coastal subject to the wall. The image supplies movement above the simple bench and echoes the room's mineral colours. Jute adds texture only on the dry side, leaving the main working route on tile. The decorative wall light also belongs well away from splashes; a working utility deserves lighting chosen for its actual position.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
Laundry remains on the left, seating and closed storage on the right. The arrangement gives each task a clear surface and route.
The bench and cupboard remain easy to read against sea-glass paint. Their different heights prevent a solid wall of storage.
Foam Of Ocean gives the room a recognisable natural subject. The remaining character comes from light and materials.
The jute rug belongs beside the dry bench, rather than under the sink or across the main threshold. Bare tile remains available for the busiest traffic.
WHAT TO BORROW
Let coastal colour come from water, stone and weathered timber. Plan the wet route first, then place textiles and artwork where they can remain dry.
