The den takes the small room

The to-do list can stay in the hall. This den gives its floor to a loveseat and companion chair, with a square table close enough for a coffee and the book you meant to finish. Red paint continues across the walls and shelves, so the many book spines sit within one deep background. The pale cushions make the seats easy to pick out. Small landscapes cluster beside the window, and the patterned rug repeats the red in a softer register beneath the exposed teak frames.
