The carved apple is a familiar shape that gives the olive wood’s winding grain somewhere to travel. We chose it as a small, slightly playful object for a desk or shelf, where it can be picked out against books and plain surfaces. It needs no elaborate arrangement. A little empty space makes the grain easier to see.
