The tree takes a corner
It stays out of the door route and does not require moving the everyday seating.

ROOM 107 · Living Room
A modern country house, conceived for Oxfordshire.
A Christmas tree should join a room, not evict its furniture. This modern country sitting room keeps its pale upholstery, silver-blue notes and clear routes, adding the season through small lights and a little greenery.

The everyday arrangement comes first. There is still a good seat beside the lamp, somewhere for a drink and a path to the garden door. The tree occupies a corner that can spare the space, rather than the place a chair normally needs.
Buttercream walls make a gentle background for the grey wool rug and tweed chair. A red portable lamp supplies the sharper note. It belongs to the room all year, which makes it a more interesting seasonal accent than a pile of objects bought for one month.
Natural baubles and a cane star keep the tree light in both senses. The Golden Bough print remains visible, and the table has room for a book. By January, taking the decorations down should reveal a complete sitting room rather than a collection of gaps.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
It stays out of the door route and does not require moving the everyday seating.
A lightly dressed tree and a little greenery are enough. The furniture does not disappear beneath Christmas.
The grey chair and pale sofa stop warm lights making the entire room yellow.
The red portable lamp supplies a small warm pool where someone actually sits.
WHAT TO BORROW
Mark the tree's footprint before bringing it in. Keep the usual seats and routes working, then remove the decorations mentally: the room should still be complete.
