An illustrated concept for Manchester warehouse workroom.

Tall warehouse windows light a desk against the far wall, while a four-door sideboard takes the printer and paperwork. Black steel, pale wood and a grey chair give this Manchester workroom a clear working centre.

A printer rarely improves a desk. Here it gets a sideboard of its own, leaving the working surface for a laptop, a notebook and a lamp. This Manchester warehouse concept puts the desk squarely against the plaster wall, with daylight arriving from the tall windows on the left. Brick piers and a riveted steel column already give the room a strong outline, so the furniture follows their straightforward geometry. The grey swivel chair softens the black desk frame, and a generous abstract above it makes the working corner feel part of the room.

Light from the side

The desk sits beside the window wall, with the screen facing into the room. That arrangement keeps the glazing clear and offers a useful starting point for checking daylight and reflections at the actual chair position.

Give the printer another address

Closed storage along the right wall takes the printer off the desk and provides a separate surface for boxes. Pale timber also connects the dark working furniture to the warm floorboards.

What to borrow

Separate active work from the equipment that supports it. A nearby cabinet can hold the printer and spare paper, leaving more desk surface free. Test the screen position through the day; side light still needs checking for glare.
