Offer a seat beyond the mattress
The leather chair has a separate position by the window. A guest can read or put on shoes without rearranging the bed.

ROOM 69 · Bedroom
The guest salon with a proper place to sleep
Published
A generous guest bedroom entered through double doors, with a separate window-side chair.
Dusty rose, a curved upholstered bed and a brown leather chair give this guest room the ease of a small salon. The door can close, the bedside surface is useful and the window offers somewhere to sit beyond the duvet.

A guest room becomes more welcoming when it offers a choice of positions. The Camille bed provides a proper place to sleep; the Victor leather chair gives someone a seat for a quiet morning or the last few pages of a book. Together they make the room usable beyond the hours spent under the covers.
The bed's curved pale frame sits against a flat rose wall, with the rug aligned to the same geometry. The Naya bedside chest adds drawers and a surface beside the pillows. The Protea lamp takes only part of that top, leaving a guest somewhere to put their own things.
It's a Woman's World puts a black-and-white figure above the headboard. Its silhouette interrupts the larger areas of rose and pale upholstery. The double doors frame the view from the adjoining room, but their more important function is ordinary privacy when a guest wants to withdraw.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
A room for staying in, with a bed that takes guests seriously.

Keep the bed square to its wall
The headboard, base and rug share a consistent direction. Decorative curves work best when the underlying arrangement remains straightforward.
Make the bedside useful
The Naya chest provides drawers and a reachable top. Leave room beside the lamp for the objects a guest will bring.
Add a sharper image
The surreal black-and-white artwork interrupts the softer upholstery and rose paint. It gives the room character without adding more pattern to the bedding.
WHAT TO BORROW
Furnish a guest room for the half-hour before sleep and the half-hour after waking. A chair, a clear bedside surface and privacy do much of the welcoming.
