Washington

This crisp foreground gives way to an enormous, soft expanse of thick, rolling mountain fog that completely dominates the center of the canvas. Above this dense, sea-like vapor rise the steep, snow-capped ridges of a distant mountain range. The rugged terrain is blanketed by snow and countless frost-covered evergreens that blend softly into a heavy, churning grey sky. A subtle pocket of golden winter sunlight breaks through the clouds to illuminate the upper right peaks, creating a sharp tonal friction against the chilly slate blue and deep pine green hues that shroud the rest of the silent, imposing wilderness.
