Depth in the wall
The reveal holds light without another piece of furniture.

ROOM 160 · Bathroom
A stucco courtyard house, conceived for Tucson, AZ.
The window reveal is almost a piece of furniture. Light rests on its deep ledge, leaving the small basin wall free for peach. A compact cabinet preserves standing space below; the ledge can stay empty.

The thickness of the wall supplies much of the room’s character. Light rests inside the window reveal before reaching the peach basin wall, so the small interior has more depth than its floor area suggests. The ledge can stay empty.
A compact woodgrain cabinet leaves the floor visible and keeps the white basin at an appropriate scale. The narrow mirror belongs to it rather than covering the wall. One blue towel supplies the accent and something useful beside the basin. There is little reason to add another shelf.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS

All Sum Home
The small floating cabinet keeps the floor open where the thick wall already takes up space. Its warm woodgrain stops the peach plaster feeling sugary, and one closed cupboard is enough for a guest room’s essentials.

A narrow mirror belongs to the scale of the compact basin. Its pale frame picks up the cabinet’s warmth without covering the peach wall or competing with the deep window reveal.
