December can happen in daylight
A little hanging decoration and a few branches are enough at breakfast.

ROOM 134 · Dining Room
A farmhouse breakfast room, conceived for Somerset.
Christmas can begin at breakfast without taking over the table. Buttercream, ice blue and a few restrained hanging decorations make this farmhouse room feel seasonal in ordinary December daylight.

The oak table remains the centre of daily use. Chairs can move, breakfast dishes have room, and the decoration stays mostly above or beside the working surface. Nothing needs to be dismantled before someone can spread out a newspaper.
Buttercream warms the walls against the cool window light. Blue-and-white ceramics supply a smaller rhythm at the table, with the flower print giving the wall a little more colour. The pendant is simple enough to remain part of the room after the season passes.
A few bells, timber decorations and a light wreath suggest December without a forest of garlands. The pleasure is in seeing familiar things differently for a few weeks. Morning light does much of the decorating, provided the room leaves it something quiet to fall across.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
A little hanging decoration and a few branches are enough at breakfast.
Daily crockery takes priority over a permanent festive centrepiece.
Cool ceramics and pale colour balance the buttercream walls.
The simple oak table and upright chairs suit a room made for everyday meals.
WHAT TO BORROW
Put breakfast on the table before choosing the festive arrangement. Keep the decorations where they can stay through a meal and a spread-out newspaper.
