Light the faces, not just the table
The clear pendant keeps a gentle spread of light above the diners.

ROOM 112 · Dining Room
A georgian townhouse apartment, conceived for Bath.
Dinner changes the light in this periwinkle room. Glass pendants bring it down towards the walnut table, with candlelight below and the blue-hour windows beyond.

The Georgian proportions give the table a generous setting, but the useful measurement is still the space behind an occupied chair. That is where the layout starts. Serving and walking need to remain possible after everyone has sat down.
Walnut supplies a dark centre, with black chairs keeping a crisp line around it. The clear pendant brings light down without hiding the room behind an opaque shade. Candlelight adds a lower note, but it is not asked to illuminate faces on its own.
The Dinner Party print is an appropriately sociable presence without matching the place settings. A large serving bowl can come to the table when needed and return to the sideboard afterwards. A dining room earns its keep by being easy to use, not by looking permanently laid.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
The clear pendant keeps a gentle spread of light above the diners.
The layout is judged with people seated, rather than with every chair pushed tightly under.
Periwinkle becomes a quieter background while camel and walnut hold the centre.
The tabletop keeps enough room for plates and conversation; spare dishes belong on the sideboard.
WHAT TO BORROW
Check the lighting from a dining chair, looking across at another person. Faces matter as much as the tabletop, and a clear shade still needs a comfortable bulb.
