The reading room under the beam

Two readers can share a room without sharing a sofa. Here, the chairs turn towards a round table, each with a lamp close by and enough separation to open a book. The low sideboard keeps most of the storage below the window line, so the mill's tall glazing and exposed structure still register. A small red abstract adds a concentrated patch of colour above the cabinet. The dotted rug supplies a looser pattern beneath the grooved table, which is large enough to make the space between the chairs useful.
