ROOM 142 · Bathroom
A brownstone rowhouse, conceived for Brooklyn, NY.
The doorway contains the vermilion. Inside this brownstone powder room, a black drawer unit takes the supplies and a thin gold mirror adds detail without taking standing space.

A small powder room is a good place for a color that would become tiring across a much larger area. Vermilion has a clear boundary here: the doorway. Inside it, the black cabinet defines the basin position and the pale counter leaves a useful surface above the drawer.
The mirror’s thin gold geometry adds detail without filling the wall with objects. Drawer storage keeps the essentials out of sight, while the small floor pattern supplies a second scale. The room has an identity without needing to become a miniature sitting room.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
The doorway contains the stronger wall tone.
Black gives the white basin a stable outline.
Gold lines supply ornament without taking standing space.
Drawers keep practical supplies off the small counter.
WHAT TO BORROW
Let a compact room have one strong color and very few objects.

All Sum Home
The black Glam cabinet gives the red room a crisp horizontal stop. Its floating base keeps the patterned floor visible, and two drawers hold the practical things a tiny room still needs.

The mirror’s spare gold lines draw a second rectangle inside the paneled wall. That open frame gives the vermilion room detail without adding a busy wallpaper or another color.
