Set height from the seat
The low cabinet leaves room to position the screen. Choose its final height from the occupied sofa and chair rather than aligning it with a standing person's view.

ROOM 119 · Other
A contemporary family home, conceived for Nottingham.
The screen has a place before the remotes and cables arrive. Charcoal makes its edge less conspicuous, with the sofa and a separate low chair arranged for watching together.
See the product sourcesTHE DESIGN
The television sits above low storage on its own wall. That gives equipment a destination without making the doorway part of the viewing area. The sofa offers room to stretch out; the separate chair gives another viewer a seat of their own.
Charcoal reduces the contrast around a black screen. Orchid brings colour to the wall, and small lamps serve the seats. Their reflections and the screen height still need checking from the actual viewing positions. A picture can suggest the arrangement; it cannot settle glare for every seat.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
The low cabinet leaves room to position the screen. Choose its final height from the occupied sofa and chair rather than aligning it with a standing person's view.
People can enter or leave without crossing between the sofa and screen.
The small lamps belong beside the seats. Switch them on with the screen dark and adjust their positions if a bright reflection falls in the viewing area.
Orchid gives part of the wall a lighter colour. The screen can keep its dark background while the rest of the room has something else to look at.
WHAT TO BORROW
Sit in every intended viewing position before fixing the screen. Check height, window reflections and the path someone takes when leaving the room.
