Borrow the finish, not the formality
An upholstered bed and quiet palette create order without rows of decorative cushions.

ROOM 115 · Bedroom
A modern apartment, conceived for Edinburgh.
A good hotel bedroom gets the practical things right. This apartment borrows that clarity, then loosens it with curved timber bedsides and textiles that look comfortable enough to disturb.

The upholstered bed gives the room one substantial centre. Wall lights leave the small bedside surfaces free, and a bench provides somewhere to put tomorrow's clothes. These are modest conveniences, but they do more for the room than a procession of decorative cushions.
Stone grey sets a quiet background for caramel timber and ice-blue textiles. A headboard partition separates sleeping from the dressing route behind it. The bench sits by the window, leaving the foot of the bed open; fitted carpet carries softness between the two areas.
Seated Nude on Blue brings a personal note above the headboard. It is small enough to belong to the bedroom rather than dominate it. The arrangement leaves a reader their own light, a clear bedside surface and a way to get dressed without crossing the sleeping area.
WHY THE ROOM WORKS
An upholstered bed and quiet palette create order without rows of decorative cushions.
The bench gives clothes a home other than the floor or the back of a chair.
Wall lights leave the small curved tables useful for a book and a glass.
The headboard partition gives the bed a calm background while leaving a distinct route to the dressing area.
WHAT TO BORROW
Walk from the bed to the clothes storage with the doors open. If the route works, keep the bedside surfaces for the small things needed before sleep.
